Thirty-two years of building for this climate.
Ragothaman Architects was founded in Chennai in 1994 as a small residential practice. Today the studio works across homes, hospitals, campuses and commercial buildings — with the same conviction that good architecture begins with shade, air and water.
We design slowly, detail obsessively and stay on site until the last handrail is right.
The practice is led by a team of architects, interior designers and site engineers working under one roof in Adyar. Drawings are produced in-house, models are built by hand, and every project partner remains on the job from first sketch to handover.
Our work is rooted in the building traditions of Tamil Nadu — courtyards, verandahs, jaali screens, thick shaded walls — reinterpreted with contemporary structure and today's construction realities.
We measure success in how a building performs a decade after it opens: how cool it stays, how little it consumes, and how easily its owners can live in and maintain it.
